What to Bring to Your Notary Appointment?
One of the most common questions I receive is: “What do I need to bring?” The answer is simple — but getting it right matters. Coming prepared means your appointment goes smoothly, your document gets notarized correctly, and you leave with peace of mind.
Your Document — Unsigned
Bring the document you need notarized, but do not sign it ahead of time. Your signature must be witnessed by me during the appointment. If you’ve already signed it, we may not be able to proceed — so hold off until we’re together.
A Valid, Unexpired Government-Issued Photo ID
California law requires me to verify your identity before notarizing anything. Acceptable forms of ID include:
• California Driver’s License or ID Card
• U.S. Passport or Passport Card
• Military ID
• Other government-issued photo ID with a physical description and serial number
Your ID must be current and not expired. If your ID is expired, we won’t be able to proceed — so check the date before your appointment.
Any Additional Signers and Their IDs
If more than one person needs to sign, everyone must be present with their own valid photo ID. I cannot notarize a signature on someone’s behalf or in their absence.
Payment
California law sets the maximum notarial fee at $15 per notarial act, per signature. Mobile and travel fees will be disclosed upfront when you book. I accept payment at the time of service — ask me about accepted payment methods when you schedule.
